How to apply for NDIS

Updated: May 26

So, you have been diagnosed with a disability, now what? You may have heard that you may be eligible to receive monetary assistance through the NDIS in order to access support. This month we are helping step you through the application process! Before completing your NDIS funding application, the NDIS requires you to assess your eligibility. To be eligible you must;

  • Be aged between 7 and 65, and

  • Live in Australia and have Australian residency, and

  • Have a requirement for support from a person because of permanent and significant disability, and/or

  • Require special equipment because of a permanent and significant disability and/or,

  • Need some supports now to reduce your future needs.

You can also check if you’re eligible by visiting the NDIS website. Once you have assessed your eligibility, you can call the NDIA to make an Access Request over the phone or you can complete the access request form on paper. During your access request, you will be asked a series of questions about yourself and your disability. Your doctor or other health care professional may also be required to submit evidence of your disability and its impact on your life. To make your access request, call 1800 800 110 or speak to us today for help applying. If your access request is approved, your next step will be to meet with a local NDIS coordinator for your planning meeting. For more information on this, chat to us today, or stay tuned for next month’s informative email!
